What causes a MaxxMacro manual chuck locking screw to break during pallet installation?
Updated
Locking screws can wear or fail after many cycles. A common cause of breakage is changing a pallet before the manual chuck’s locking screw is fully retracted.
The screw can catch on the drawbar’s flat and create a hard stop. Applying torque against that obstruction—for example, 6 Nm—can force the drawbar past the flat and damage or break the screw. This is an example of the failure mechanism, not a tightening recommendation.
Fully retract the locking screw before installing or removing the pallet.
