How does EDM electrode polarity affect cutting speed and wear?
Updated
Electrode polarity identifies whether the electrode is positive or negative relative to the workpiece. Changing polarity affects both material removal rate and electrode wear.
Positive polarity can provide low wear for suitable graphite- or copper-to-steel sinking conditions. Other material pairs and generator settings may require a different polarity. Use the machine’s recommended settings for the electrode and workpiece materials.
