Does material hardness affect EDM machinability?

No. Workpiece hardness has virtually no effect on the burn rate. Any electrically conductive material can be machined via EDM. This includes hardened tool steels, carbides, and certain semiconductor materials, without mechanical tool wear or cutting-edge breakdown.
