Read full answerCan I use MaxxMacro 70 fixtures in a MaxxMacro 54 chuck?
MaxxTooling does not recommend using MaxxMacro (System 3R OEM 100% cross-compatible) 70 fixtures on a MaxxMacro 54 chuck. Even when the pallet physically engages, the smaller chuck does not provide the support surface for which the larger pallet was designed.
The system is designed for smaller tooling to fit larger chucks: MaxxMacro 54 tooling fits MaxxMacro 70 and MaxxMagnum chucks, and MaxxMacro 70 tooling fits MaxxMagnum chucks. Use a MaxxMacro 70 or MaxxMagnum chuck for 70 fixtures.
Read full answerDo you have MaxxMacro 54 pneumatic chucks?
No. MaxxTooling does not offer MaxxMacro (System 3R OEM 100% cross-compatible) 54 pneumatic chucks. The smallest pneumatic chuck offered is MaxxMacro 70, because the pneumatic mechanism does not fit in a smaller footprint.
Browse MaxxMacro pneumatic chucks.
Read full answerWhat causes a MaxxMacro manual chuck locking screw to break during pallet installation?
Locking screws can wear or fail after many cycles. A common cause of breakage is changing a pallet before the manual chuck’s locking screw is fully retracted.
The screw can catch on the drawbar’s flat and create a hard stop. Applying torque against that obstruction—for example, 6 Nm—can force the drawbar past the flat and damage or break the screw. This is an example of the failure mechanism, not a tightening recommendation.
Fully retract the locking screw before installing or removing the pallet.

As a general guideline, a MaxxMagnum (System 3R OEM 100% cross-compatible) 156 pallet mounted on a MaxxMagnum 680.24 Manual Chuck (MM-MGMGS000) can support a workpiece weight of up to 100 kg. The capacity depends on the application.
Read full answerCan a MaxxMacro 54 chuck clamp a MaxxMacro 70 pallet?
A MaxxMacro (System 3R OEM 100% cross-compatible) 70 pallet may physically engage some MaxxMacro 54 chucks, but MaxxTooling does not recommend this arrangement. The smaller chuck does not provide the support surface for which the larger pallet was designed.

Read full answerWhat determines the load capacity of a MaxxMacro chuck mounted horizontally?
The maximum material weight any MaxxMacro chuck can handle in a horizontal configuration (including the Variable Angle Chuck) depends on several factors, such as the geometry of the part, its length, weight distribution, and the machining or EDM process involved.
As a general guideline, we recommend a maximum weight of 7 kilograms. Contact MaxxTooling through website chat or at sales@maxxtooling.com for more information.
Read full answerHow do I equip an EDM machine with a MaxxMacro workholding system?
To equip an EDM machine with a MaxxMacro (System 3R OEM 100% cross-compatible) workholding system, select a spindle or machine-adapted chuck that fits your machine:
- MaxxMacro 70 Pneumatic Chuck SP7359 Rust Proof
- MaxxMacro 70 Spindle Chuck 90957 80mm
- MaxxMacro 70 Pneumatic Chuck 600.86-3 Machine-Adapted WEDM
If you prefer not to use the machine’s C-axis, or it is not required, you can remove or disable it and mount a manual or pneumatic MaxxMacro chuck in its place. This eliminates C-axis capabilities. Options for this arrangement include:
The chuck and mounting arrangement must match the machine spindle or table.
