Use an angle gauge or sine plate to measure the angle of the Maxx-ER (Erowa OEM 100% cross-compatible) ME-CCVAS016 variable-angle chuck. The adjustment rotates continuously, so indicate the chuck to set the angle.
Read full answerWhy does an ER collet chuck nut appear off-center before tightening?
The retaining feature inside an ER collet nut is intentionally off-center. It prevents the collet from falling out of the nut.
Evaluate concentricity with the collet installed and tightened in the chuck, rather than by the appearance of the loose nut.
Read full answerWhat are collet chucks used for in machining and workholding?
Collet chucks hold round parts, rotating cutting tools, or EDM electrodes by gripping them evenly around their entire outer diameter. As the chuck closes, a slotted steel sleeve called a collet squeezes tight against an internal taper, applying balanced 360-degree clamping pressure. This uniform grip keeps the part centered with high accuracy, helps reduce chatter and vibration during cutting, and holds finished surfaces securely without leaving jaw marks.
In modular setups, collet chucks mount onto chucks fitted with drawbars, spigots, or pull studs. This setup allows operators to locate and preset round workpieces offline on a granite table, then move them directly into a mill, lathe, or EDM without losing center coordinates. The slim, compact nose also gives cutting tools close reach around small parts, reducing tool stick-out and improving clearance in 3-axis and 5-axis setups.
Read full answerDo ER collet chucks include an adjustable stop for workpiece depth?
Most ER Collet Chucks do not come with an adjustable positive stop for setting part depth. However, some of our customers use a practical workaround by placing round spacers of varying heights inside the collet chuck. This serves as an effective positive stop, allowing them to control how deep a part sits inside the collet.
Read full answerIs an ER collet included with a MaxxTooling collet chuck?
Our collet chucks come with one standard collet included. The size of the included collet may vary, and it is not intended for production use. It is provided only as a placeholder and should be replaced with the customer's own ER collet.
Read full answerWhat is required to seal a collet chuck for through-flushing?
Sealing a collet chuck for through-flushing requires a coolant-sealed ER collet to maintain proper sealing and coolant flow. Most standard coolant-sealed collets are compatible with our chucks. When used together with an O-ring on the drawbar, this setup maintains both pressure and fluid flow effectively.
