Activation handles are included with MaxxTooling quick chucks.
Read full answerWhat mounting screws are used to secure a stainless manual quick chuck?
The chuck has M8 threaded holes for mounting from the back.
Alternatively, you can use M6 screws with nuts. In some cases, the base or mounting plate has an M6 set screw. It is threaded into the base, the chuck is mounted, and then the nuts are tightened.
Read full answerCan rust-proof chucks for Wire EDM WEDM operate submerged in water?
Yes. MaxxMacro (System 3R OEM 100% cross-compatible) chucks specified for submerged Wire EDM WEDM service can operate in the intended water-based dielectric. Regular maintenance is recommended.
Read full answerWhy do similar MaxxTooling chucks have different prices?
The price difference may be due to one chuck being a rust-proof version and the other being a standard version.
Read full answerCan rust-proof chucks be exposed to washing detergent?
Yes. The rust-proof chuck can tolerate washing detergent.
Read full answerWhat should I do if a pneumatic chuck leaks air from its bottom plate and hesitates when unclamping?
A pinched O-ring at the bottom plate is one possible cause of the leak and hesitant unclamping. This can happen during mounting.
The chuck can be returned to MaxxTooling for service, or serviced locally. If the O-ring is pinched, the back plate is removed and the seal is realigned or replaced.
Cross-border returns and replacement shipments can incur import duties, making the service more costly. Contact MaxxTooling to arrange the return or discuss local service.
Read full answerDoes MaxxTooling offer a manual chuck that accepts a long drawbar and both 54 mm and 70 mm pallets?
MaxxTooling does not offer a manual chuck for a long drawbar and both 54 mm and 70 mm pallets.
A suitable pneumatic chuck can be actuated with an air gun as an alternative, avoiding frequent drawbar changes.
Read full answerDoes MaxxTooling offer three-jaw or four-jaw chucks?
Our chucks don’t have jaws — they’re designed to clamp MaxxMacro (System 3R OEM 100% cross-compatible) or Maxx-ER (Erowa OEM 100% cross-compatible) system fixtures such as holders, vises, and similar components. They’re not intended to clamp workpieces directly.
Read full answerCan I align a workholding chuck without a master?
Yes, you can align a workholding chuck without a master, but using a master is the recommended standard to ensure high precision and verified accuracy.
Without a master, some customers indicate the locators directly, splitting the measured distance to find the center. Another method is to place a reference item in the chuck, indicate a surface, rotate it 180°, and compare the readings across both axes until they agree.
However, these methods only provide approximate alignment. The reference item’s own errors affect the result, and making repeated adjustments takes extra setup time. To eliminate reference errors and achieve exact, repeatable alignment, using a dedicated master is the recommended solution.
