Yes. The system is downward compatible, meaning MaxxMacro (System 3R OEM 100% cross-compatible) 54 fixtures work on MaxxMacro 54, MaxxMacro 70, and MaxxMagnum chucks; MaxxMacro 70 fixtures work on MaxxMacro 70 and MaxxMagnum chucks; and MaxxMagnum fixtures work only on MaxxMagnum chucks.
That said, regarding masters, we recommend using the same system size.
Read full answerWhat is the difference between short-shaft and long-shaft masters?
A long-shaft master gives the indicator more contact surface when checking angular alignment on a horizontally mounted chuck, such as in a lathe.
Read full answerDoes MaxxTooling offer annual calibration for masters?
MaxxTooling does not provide annual calibration of masters in-house. A local CMM inspection shop can calibrate a master.
Read full answerDo MaxxTooling Masters come with a certificate, and which characteristics does it report?
Yes. Every MaxxTooling Master is supplied with a certificate. Commonly reported characteristics include:
- Datum straightness
- Parallelism
- Perpendicularity
- Concentricity
The measured features and tolerances depend on the particular Master. The tooling system’s stated 2-micron repeatability is not a tolerance for every individual feature.
