MaxxTooling does not offer a separate EconoRuler version for Wire EDM WEDM. Reducing the features would not provide a cost advantage over our standard rulers.
EconoRuler accessories use their own system and are not compatible with standard ruler accessories.
Our rulers include non-rail clamps for direct mounting on the machine table.
Read full answerWhat are the benefits of using a ruler in Wire EDM WEDM?
The MaxxMacro MXRuler precision ruler system establishes rigid, ground reference rails across the machine worktable that align directly with the machine linear axes. Rulers can be bolted directly to the machine table or mounted onto reference elements to reposition them across the work table for maximum setup flexibility. Instead of indicating individual stock edges or assembling custom fixtures for every job, operators locate workpieces flush against the pre-aligned ruler datums. This modular frame structure bridges the machine table to support varying part lengths, thin strips, and multiple workpieces simultaneously, cutting setup and edge-finding cycles down to minutes.
MaxxMacro offers a wide variety of MXRulers that are compatible with all machines on the market. Visit our website to find the setup that's compatible with your machine. Read full answerWhy does surface rust appear on stainless steel rulers used in Wire EDM WEDM?
Rust on an MXRuler is usually external contamination from a rusted workpiece, contaminated coolant, or poor water quality. The rulers are made from corrosion-resistant 440C stainless steel. These deposits come from contamination sticking to the ruler, rather than rust originating in the ruler itself.
Surface deposits on ground areas usually wipe off easily.
Common causes include:
- High pH levels in the water. Test with a suitable water test kit and change the water if needed.
- Tap water containing minerals or metals. Use softened or deionized water as appropriate for the machine.
- A water-quality meter reading below the original recommendation of 50 kΩ. Check the deionizing bottle and confirm the meter units and operating range in the machine instructions.
- Contaminated or rusted workpieces depositing particles in the system.
Counterbores, screw holes, unground surfaces, and other areas with low water flow can collect deposits. Scrub these areas at the end of each day and dry the fixturing. Monitor water quality and keep rusted components out of the system.
